Why an initial consultation is necessary
Counseling vs litigation (this is the key)
The $175 / 30 minutes is legal counseling, not a down payment on a lawsuit.
Counseling side: You pay for attorney time, attention, and judgment on your facts — like paying a psychologist or any other professional counselor for a session. You are buying clarity and options, not a guaranteed long-term relationship.
Litigation / full representation side: Taking on contested work is a separate decision later — based on facts, goals, fit, and agreement. That is not what the consult fee purchases.
Mixing those two up is why the fee feels unfair. Separating them is why the fee makes sense.
“What if you won’t take my case?”
That fear is normal. The honest answer:
The consult still has value especially when acceptance isn’t automatic. In 30 minutes you can still learn:
- What kind of problem this is
- What not to do
- Realistic options
- How to avoid a costlier mistake
- Whether the next step is direction only, a brief engagement, or a full engagement (including litigation when needed)
If the honest answer is “we shouldn’t litigate this,” that careful answer can still save months of cost and stress. That isn’t a failed consult — thats the consult working.
And yes we can and do help many people. Our online reviews are evidence of our commitment to service. The consult is how we find the right level of help for your legal issue.
